Teams & Players I Am Excited To See This Season
Trevor Lawrence
Lawrence is projected to go first overall in many mock drafts, including mine. Lawrence has dominated college football since his freshman season when he took over the starting job at Clemson. After not putting up big stats in 2019 [besides two 300+ yard games] Lawrence will need to prove himself to scouts or he could potentially miss out being the #1 pick.
LSU
After losing heisman winning QB Joe Burrow and star RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire to the NFL draft, not to mention six defensive players, WR Justin Jefferson, three offensive lineman, TE Stephan Sullivan, and Long Snapper Blake Ferguson. The LSU Tigers are a whole new team! It will be interesting to see if they can rebound and make it to another playoffs.
Notre Dame
Notre Dame will be joining the ACC this year where they will compete against #1 Clemson and a North Carolina team led by Sam Howell. We will all see if Notre Dame can finally make the jump from playoff contenders to championship favorites.
Sam Ehlinger
Ehlinger came out of nowhere two years ago and put up great stats. The Texas QB still has to get through Oklahoma but if they come out victorious in the Red River Showdown they have a chance to make it to the playoffs.
Sam Howell
Howell will either have a crazy season that could end with a heisman trophy or he will hurt his draft stock tremendously. With Notre Dame added to the schedule they have a tougher road to the ACC championship but there is still a possibility.
Brock Purdy
One of the most underrated QB’s in the nation is Iowa State’s Brock Purdy. Though Purdy is not a running QB he can still make plays through the air. And if he puts up better stats than last year he has a real shot at the heisman.
Baylor
Coming off of the best season since Corey Coleman was a Baylor Bear, Baylor lost star WR Denzel Mims, DL James Lynch, DL Bravvion Roy, and LB Clay Johnston to the NFL draft. They also lost RB JaMychal Hasty, LB Blake Lynch, S Graylond Arnold, and DE James Lockhart who all signed as undrafted free agents. But most importantly they lost head coach Matt Rhule who changed Baylor from a 1-10 team to a 11-s team who made the Sugar Bowl! In place of Rhule Baylor hired former LSU Defensive Coordinator Dave Aranda. QB Charlie Brewer will have to step up if he wants to make it to another bowl game.
